The surroundings
The surroundings are especially appropriate for walking and biking. It is a rolling countryside where woods alternate with open plains. The sanctuary of Parc de Morvan is at half an hour distance by car.
Art & Culture
At 11 miles distance from St Benin d'Azy one finds the lovely old city of Nevers. It is a lively city where you can visit many concerts and exhibitions. Nevers, the capital of the department of Nièvre, is situated where the rivers Nièvre and Loire merge.
The towns la Charité sur Loire and Decize are worth visiting, just like the renowned Autun, Vézelay, Auban and Bourges.
Art, kitsch and curiosa are to be found at the many brocantes and ‘vide grenier’. And why wouldn't you go for a day out in Paris? The train departing from Nevers will take you there within two hours!
Wine
Along the Loire, north of Nevers, you will find the famous vineyards of Sancerre and Pouilly. It is a lovely route to drive, and there are many ‘caves’ (wine cellars) where you can taste wines or stock up for your own wine cellar back home.
Shopping
The city of Nevers is important for the region, with at the outskirts of the city many huge branches of supermarkets, brocantes, furniture shops etc. The city centre of Nevers contains a range of luxurious shops for clothes, shoes, cosmetics etc. The city is easy to reach and there is ample parking space.
And for something truly exclusive one goes out for a day shopping in Paris.
Riding
We have good connections with a riding school in the neighbourhood; some of their horses graze on our domain. We can heartily recommend their riding lessons and the rides through the beautiful surroundings.Car racing
The famous Formula 1 circuit of Magny Cours is at 18.5 miles distance from St Benins d'Azy. For the Formula 1-weekend we offer a special arrangement.
